As part of our regular series on the Professors, we bring you the current events of John Wesley Kurawa and Doug Powe.
Currently Profressor Kurawa has just published the Drumbeats of Africa. This is the FIRST book to be printed by Africa University. As well, this is the first actual book to be completed by the African printers.
Kurawa's current work focuses on the Evangelism of Eastern Zimbabwe by the UMC, 1897-1921. Discussion concentrates on the approach of the white missionaries and their failure to recognize the locals as true pastors to the people of Africa. The first ordained pastor was recognized in 1921. Prior to that time they were referred to as Native Helpers.
Part of Kurawa's studies involves the Evangelism of listening, building community and relationships. Recognizing that “a human being is medicine to another human being.”
Kurawa has recently provided an update on the status of Zimbabwe stating that his focus was on "Spirit, community, social, food – the basics of Peacekeeping and Peace building".
We send our prayers to Kurawa on his efforts.
